Thanksgiving is exactly 2 weeks from today. YIKES! Maybe I should buy a turkey.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all of the fun things that students can write about this time of year.
The big question is… how do we inspire our students to write? When I taught writing in fourth grade for many years, my favorite strategy for inspiring reluctant writers was to use pictures and graphics.
Write a Story ~ Thanksgiving Edition @ TeacherKarma.com
Students LOVE to look at my family Thanksgiving photographs over the years… especially pictures of when I was their age. Yes, Mrs. Bradshaw is a REAL PERSON.
Start by showing your students inspiring pictures, and then TELL them your thanksgiving story aloud… THEY SERIOUSLY LOVE THIS. After telling your Thanksgiving story to the kiddos, take it to writing. Model for your students how you put your story into writing. To get the best writing results, model the entire writing process with your students.
